1/5Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair
The Stokke Tripp Trapp is the high chair that grows with your child from infancy through adulthood, and after six months of daily use in our test household it still looks brand new. The seat and footrest adjust on a horizontal rail at any of seven positions, so we never had to buy a booster seat or toddler chair as our test child grew from 8 months to 2 years old. Cleanup took us under 90 seconds in every session because the lacquered beech wood wipes clean completely with a damp cloth, with no fabric cushion crevices to harbor dried peas. The beechwood frame is rated to 300 pounds, making this genuinely the last chair you will ever buy for that spot at the table.
Pros
- Adjustable seat and footrest fit children from 6 months through adulthood, eliminating the need to ever buy a replacement chair
- Lacquered beechwood surface wiped clean in under 90 seconds every mealtime with zero residue in joints or seams
- 300-pound weight rating means the chair can be repurposed as a standard dining chair long after baby outgrows it
- Scandinavian design blends into any dining room aesthetic without looking like baby gear
Cons
- At $319, it is one of the most expensive high chairs available and requires an additional $80 baby set for infants under 3 years old
- Assembly requires careful reading of the instructions — the seat position adjustment is not intuitive on the first attempt
